I would describe it's people as a hard-working nation, being well on the way to future success. It has also a good position geographically - the middle of Europe is a good place to be located, right. I think it will regain it's past fame and glory, it just needs some reinforcements from outside, as well. Some good things you will observe when you go there: 1. Historical places, such as old cities, towns and arhitecture. 2. Religous people, so if you go for easy girls, that may not work out always. At least not with the good looking ones. 3. Old time traditions. Polish people will stick to their old ways, while also learning about new things constantly. 4. People like certain interesting foods. Check out their national cuisine! 5. People have large families and close bonds. They are really social as well. 6. They have interesting names for themselves. The young people take care to educate themselves well and go abroad for work, then earn money and come back and invest to develop their home-country. This is all good, because it keeps the trends upwards. I think Poland is on it's way to future well-ness and prosperity. Poland has many attractions, as well. It's not just a boring European country to visit. It has many advantages going for it. Like the ones I mentioned already and some others as well. Consider this: - how you would like to be surrounded by 1000 year old arhitecture - how would you like to be among some of the hardest working people - how you would like to visit some of the greatest churches and cathedrals in existance? - etc. There are numerous bonuses visiting Poland, so why not go there on your next [European] trip?
Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/exotic-locations-articles/poland-a-place-to-visit-1572615.html
About the Author:
I am a starting author, who is working to provide readers with a steady supply of fresh material.
Poland foto fotolia

Ibiza

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6TtjOArSKzw/SyX1Nn9u0eI/AAAAAAAABiE/fL3X3kkoDps/s400/ibiza.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5415003741397897698" />
Ibiza, the tiny island in the Balearic islands remains one of the most popular and well established holiday destinations in Europe. Learn how to find the best airfare deals.
Where to Find the Best Airfare Deal for Your Holiday Vacation
Author: Amanda Roddy
Where can you find the best airfare deals? Maybe you dream of a holiday vacation on sunny beaches or snowy slopes but think you can’t afford the airfare. Not all of us can afford luxury holiday vacations. The expenses of airfare alone would empty our wallets. If you need to go on a much needed holiday vacation, there are ways to find the best airfare deals. Before starting to look for the best airfare deals, plan in advance. It is crucial to come up with an initial budget. Setting a budget helps to keep you from over spending. You don’t have to empty your pockets to enjoy another city or country. Search to come up with a deal you can really afford. Examine the cost of out-of-pocket expenses like transportation, hotel, and food. Don’t set budgets too low. Plan at least 4 figures. Search online. One of the most convenient ways to find the best airfare deals is to search online. Use major search engines to look for the best vacation deals and offers provided by travel agencies. Decide on a specific place where you plan to spend your vacation to narrow your search. If you want the best package without spending all your savings, you may wish to look for packages that include airfare accommodations, and transportation. Look for a travel agent. If you don’t have the leisure time to scour the city finding travel agencies or searching for the best deals, a travel agent may be the answer. Look for travel agents in the yellow pages or online offering their services. You will discover there are several of them around. Consult and give them details about your desired vacation. Include budget and potential destinations. The more information you give the more likely they are to find a package. Group Vacation If you want the best airfare deal, you may wish to consider group travel. Group vacations are preferred packages since the airlines offer discounts for large groups. Ask friends and family to go on the vacation with you. Count the number going and contact the travel agency for available packages for the number of people. Look for the best possible deals before you make a decision. It isn’t hard to get the best airfare deal for your holiday vacation. The secret is paying attention to details and not rushing. Take your time and check all possibilities before
Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/flights-articles/where-to-find-the-best-airfare-deal-for-your-holiday-vacation-1539739.html
About the Author:
For more savings, sweeps, and discounts, visit http://sweepscouponsdeals.blogspot.com

The Land and its People (Thailand)

The world's oldest civilization was flourishing in Thailand at least 5,600 years ago.
Recent archaeological discoveries in the tiny, plateau hamlet of Ban Chieng, 500 kilometres northeast of Bangkok, provide compelling evidence of a civilization 600 years older than the ancient Tigris-Euphates valley settlements, hitherto regarded as mankind's first "Cradle of...
The Land and Its People (Thailand)
Author: Manora
The world's oldest civilization was flourishing in Thailand at least 5,600 years ago.
Recent archaeological discoveries in the tiny, plateau hamlet of Ban Chieng, 500 kilometres northeast of Bangkok, provide compelling evidence of a civilization 600 years older than the ancient Tigris-Euphates valley settlements, hitherto regarded as mankind's first "Cradle of Culture".
Systematic excavation of burial mounds in Ban Chieng and surrounding areas has unearthed an 18-ton treasure of artifacts including an impressively wide range of bronze and iron tools and jewellery. Incised black pottery; handsome, hand-painted red-on-cream pots adomed with intricate fingerprint whorl pattems; ceramic figurines, and stone and glass beads abounded.
From archaeological evidence, it has been surmised that Ban Chieng hosted an agrarian society whose knowledge of metallurgy was so advanced it produced bronze artifacts six centuries befor anyone else-and married bronze and iron to fashion bi-metallic tools and utensils hundreds of years before the Chinese.
Ban Chieng artists and potters were equally accomplished. People dressed well and printed their own silk textiles using intricately-pattemed clay rollers. They lived in sturdy houses and used domesticated cattle to cultivate their rice paddies.
Easily accessible only from the southem Gulf-of-Thailand coast and the southeast (present-day Cambodia), the Menam Chao Phya basin was well protected from excessive outside influence and sudden, massive incursions of new settlers.
The widespread variety of pots and scarcity of offensive weapons strongly indicate a stable, peaceful society whose sophistication in metal technology, pottery crafting and plant and animal husbandry would have required at least 2,000 years of prior development.
The origins of the Ban Chieng people remain a mystery and have engendered a great deal of leamed speculation. Some scholars believe they may have come from present-day northem Vietnam, and discovered the bronze-making process after they arrived. Others contend that they were indigenous to the area.
What is certain is that they flourished in the Ban Chieng region because of its fertile soil and gigantic forests that contained abundant fuel and wildlife. Another factor was its gentle weather that both eliminated the need for elaborate housing and permitted year-round farming.
Unhappily, the Ban Chieng people's farming methods were considerably less sophisticated than their metallurgy. Using the primitive and ecologically rapacious method of slash-and-bum, eventual deforestation and resultant soil exhaustion forced them off the northeast plateau - which remains arid and relatively infertile to the present day - and down into the rich Menam Chao Phya Valley to the west.
There they encountered a Neolithic people who first produced bronze around 2,000 B.C. These valley people were most probably an indigenous proto-Malay tribe that later moved southward under pressure from the Ban Chieng people and sub-sequent southward migrations from China.
Verdant and abundantly stocked with fish and birds, the incredibly fertile Chao Phya river basin attracted several successive waves of immigrants.
The Menam ('Mother of Water' or 'River') Chao Phya basin covers most of modern central and northern Thailand and is bordered to the west by rugged Burmese mountains, to the north by lofty mountains separating southern China from the Southeast Asian mainland, and to the east by the high, sprawling plateau settled by the Ban Chieng people.
Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/travel-articles/the-land-and-its-people-thailand-1468137.html
About the Author:
Germany Berlin travel Berlin hotel Berlin Berlin luxury hotels

citadines paris properties

Visiting Paris and are looking for a right abode with a blend of comfortable accommodation and suitable prices then why not try Citadines Paris aparthotels. Questions such as What are the best escorts in Bangkok?" and "How much do escorts in Bangkok charge?
Bangkok Escorts - Are They Worth Your Money?
Author: Jim Hunt
After writing about the naughty nightlife of Bangkok for so long I often get asked the same questions over and over again. Questions such as "What are the best escorts in Bangkok?" and "How much do escorts in Bangkok charge?". Here's my short answer for both of those questions. There aren't any best escorts in Bangkok and they charge too much money. Way too much money. When you're traveling thousands of miles to get to Bangkok and order an escort you're missing on a whole lot of fun. Believe me. Bangkok's red light districts are easy to get to and you can meet so many like minded people from all over the world and make life long friends. So it really makes no sense to stay in a hotel room, waiting for an escort that is 99.9% not what you saw in the pictures of an escort service website. If you have two working legs and a reasonable level of English you should get out and hit the go go bars found in patpong, Nana Entertainment Plaza and Soi Cowboy. In there you can visually inspect the bar girls wearing bikinis. It's a whole lot different then looking at photographs on a website. You can even talk to the bar girl and in some cases she'll even let you examine the goods. Another reason why you shouldn't choose an escort service is because they charge a ridiculous amount of money. In go go bars you can negotiate rates and still end up paying a fraction of what an escort would've charged you for showing up at your front door. You should also take a look at Bangkok's freelance scene. There are many hot spot locations where Thai freelancers hang out like the parking lot of the Nana Hotel and Thermae Coffee Shop. You can talk to these girls and again visually look at them to see if they're what you 're interested in. And you can change your mind easily if the both of you don't click. Escorts on the other hand are a whole different story. When an escort arrives at your front door and she's not the one in the pictures you can send her back, but you have to give her taxi money, which is about several hundred Baht. Again there's a 99.9% chance you're not getting what you see in an escort service website. When you've found a go go bar girl or freelancer make sure you stay at a hotel that is bar girl friendly. This means that the hotel doesn't have a policy of charge their guest an extra fee for taking a companion back to their rooms. Bar girl friendly hotels are found in all of Bangkok's red light districts and are some of the best hotels in Thailand. But here's the real kicker. Guess where escort agencies find most of their girls? That's right, at a go go bar or freelance girls. They'll keep a list of girl's numbers and keep calling one until they find one with free time. Then they'll charge you several thousand Baht for it. So get yourself out of your hotel room if you can. Bangkok's red light districts are relatively safe as long as you keep your wits with you. You'll save yourself some money as well as time in the Land of Smiles.
Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/travel-tips-articles/bangkok-escorts-are-they-worth-your-money-1413760.html
About the Author:
Visit Bangkok Bargirl Friendly Hotels for more information on Bangkok's red light districts and where to stay.
Jim Hunt is an expat in Thailand. For starters, an international traveler should have a passport or a document that is equivalent to the same. The passport is passed to the border officers who staff the border between the United States and Canada. In addition, the driver should have documents to prove car ownership or if the car is on hire, they should have a lease certificate to prove the same. The international traveler should also be prepared to answer questions from the border patrol officials. The patrol officials question an international visitor concerning his/her reasons for travel, accommodation when in Canada and the length of his or her travel. As such, it is important that an international traveler establish where he/she will be staying while in Canada, the length of his stay and most importantly, he should have a clear reason for travel to Canada. If accompanied by children during the travel, you should have identity documents for the children too. In the absence of the parents, the adult traveler(s) should have written consent from the parents. Children who are less than 40 pounds must use car seats. The consent document should include the parents address, phone numbers and contact address. One should also find out beforehand the things allowed entry into Canada. This is especially so because Canada has restrictions to the entry of motor boats and hunting rifles into the country. You may be allowed to bring a pet if a veterinary certificate indicates that they have been vaccinated against rabies. Beyond the border, the international traveler should know that wearing seat belts in Canada is the mandatory. Unlike other countries however, you need to buy local insurance since United State’s insurance is accepted in Canada. However, one should obtain an insurance card for use in Canada from their insurance before travel. In addition, the US driving licenses are accepted in Canada. The speeding limits differ in different places. In rural highways for example, one can drive at 100 kilometers per hour, while the speed limits on highways and cities roads are 80 km/hr and 50 km/hr respectively. Americans should be aware that the driving rules and road conditions in Canada are slightly different from what they are used to at home. For example, most highways lack merging lanes for incoming traffic. In addition, rapid changing of lanes and tailgating are common among the Canadian drivers. Before proceeding on lights turning green, one should be careful since Canadians are notorious for running red lights. From Monday to Thursday, travelers should expect at least 10 minutes delay at the border crossings. The Cornwall border point is especially notorious for such delays due to the high number of people crossing the border at this point. On Fridays to Sundays, travelers should expect 20 minutes delay at the borders, again because of the high traffic as people go and leave Canada. These wait times are applicable for both the commercial and social traffic flow.
Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/travel-tips-articles/driving-in-canada-1365592.html
About the Author:
Are you putting off reviewing or changing your car insurance? scheme='http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#' term='Napa Valley'/>
The Louvre

There are literally thousands of art galleries all over the world. Almost every city has an art gallery but there are some art galleries that are known all around the world. People will travel across the world just to see some of these famous art galleries and the master pieces that they house inside.
Paris Art Galleries
Author: john
The Louvre in Paris, France is probably the most famous art gallery in the world. While it can also be considered a museum the art housed in the Louvre is truly stunning. The most famous piece of art in the Louvre is the Mona Lisa, by Da Vinci. This painting has been stolen and recovered, and is now kept under high security. The Louvre also houses many other famous paintings by Da Vinci and hundreds of other famous artists. In New York City, the Metropolitan Museum of Art is a premier location for beautiful art masterpieces. The art gallery has an amazing collection of American paintings that will stun and impress any visitor. There are also paintings and statues housed there from all over the world, including many famous artists such as Botticelli, Raphael, and El Greco. London has an amazing gallery known as The National Gallery. This gallery boasts of some of the finest examples of European art, including paintings by Raphael, Manet, Leonardo Da Vinci, Renoir, and Monet. This gallery has a very large number of paintings and some of the most famous ones are: Sunflowers, by Vincent van Gogh, The Virgin of the Rocks, by Leonardo Da Vinci, and Venus and Mars, by Sandro Botticelli. Other than the traditional art galleries found all over the world that house the old greats, there are many that focus on the contemporary arts of the twentieth century. The George Pompidou Center in Paris is one of the most famous contemporary art galleries and museums in the world. Even the building itself is totally contemporary, with all the ducts and piping on the outside. Contemporary art galleries and museums typically feature not only paintings, drawings, and prints, but exhibits of furniture, sound, light, and even music. Visiting these galleries can be a fascinating visit through the past few decades and shows how much style and taste has changed. Each major city in Europe typically has a traditional national art gallery, a contemporary gallery, and usually many more, including private art galleries. If you are visiting any major metropolitan center then a visit to the area's many art galleries is a must. Most national galleries feature art from the history of their country. You can learn a great deal about a country and its culture by viewing the way their art has changed over the years. For those that want to possess these works of art, the only place to visit is the private galleries. The exhibits in national galleries are not for sale. While private galleries offer some good works of art, they do not house the greats such as the Renoirs or Van Gogh's. Another option is to visit auction houses such as Christie's that often hold art auctions. These auctions feature some stunning pieces that you can bid on and possibly acquire if the pockets are deep. Art is an important part of any history. Paying a visit to a gallery can transport you back in time, where you can see works produced by some of the most creative minds to ever exist.
Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/camping-articles/paris-art-galleries-1288986.html
About the Author:
The Author is an expert writer for various travel writing such as Domestic Yatra.com , yatra.com and yatra.com domestic

European

Italian, German and European tourists are flocking Mombassa Malindi Watamu Beach Hotels and Resorts for holidays vacations and cheap safari packages to Tsavo Masai Mara Amboseli Kenya
German and Italian Tourists Flock Mombassa Beach Hotels
Author: Edwin
The global economic downturn and last year’s Kenya post-election violence slowed the rapid growth in tourism in Kenya’, but it turns out the two misfortunes only slowed it, In fact, because of the pressure on cost-cutting Western holiday-makers to reduce stress that comes with financial depression and make up for the 2008 miss, Kenya tourism is beginning to boom again according to African Safaris and Adventures Director Bussiness Development Esther Muthoni And a mood that was deeply uncertain just a few months ago has turned much more optimistic than ever, Major hotel chains such as the African Safari Club and Serena Hotels and Lodges which was closed for the better part of 2008 due to the slump in the hotel industry, have reopened with a bang, registering more than 50 per cent accommodation occupancy as the high season sets in. A number of its hotels and game lodges in the Tsavo and Masai Mara National Park and Amboseli are already doing brisk business, according to their managers, following the resumption of major airlines from Europe to the Moi International Airport in Mombasa. “Since the beginning of this month,” said Mr. Musa, the general manager of Sarova Hotels and Lodges, “we have been receiving about 14 flights per week but the numbers should go up significantly to about 22 by October when the high tourist season picks up.” Air Italy, which is currently operating four flights per week is scheduled to increase to 13 while other airlines like the Blue Panorama, Livingstone and Euro fly, all from Italy, will be operating between three and seven flights per week, he said. Africa Safari Club is one of the biggest hotel chains in Kenya that also includes Shanzu Coral Beach and Palm Beach, which could be reopened if tourist numbers grow, Business at the Moi International Airport in Mombassa had grown 7 per cent by the beginning of July and is expected to go up by over 45 per cent this year following an increase in the number of flights. This, according to the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA), will see the number of passengers touch the 1.4 million this year following the return of various airlines that withdrew services in the heat of post-election violence precipitated by the disputed presidential election of December 27, 2007. The coast, Kenya’s key tourist attraction with its sunny beaches, was one of the hardest hit by sporadic violence and destruction of property, causing skittish tourists to cancel bookings and suspend planned visits, as tribal fighting claimed over 1,000 people and displaced nearly half a million others. Moi International Airport Mombassa manager Kangugo said there were strong indications that this year’s performance would level that of 2007 when the airport received an average of 27 charter flights per week.
Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/exotic-locations-articles/german-and-italian-tourists-flock-mombassa-beach-hotels-1290861.html
About the Author:
Edwin is a specialist in African Safaris and a tour operator. When it comes to museums, it can bring you even more enjoyment. The other big advantage is the amount of knowledge you can easily pick up as a result of visiting just some of the many museums dotted about the city’s streets. If a tour of New York’s museums appeals to you, try the Guggenheim Museum for starters. Located on the famous 5th Avenue, it not only looks stunning from the outside, it has plenty of modern art on display inside as well. The remarkable building celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2009, and there are countless exhibitions on display. You can enjoy seeing works from famous artists, as well as acquainting yourself with new ones. Part of the charm of New York is seeing the famous New York City police cars driving around the city. If the history of the city’s police force interests you, why not find out more about it by visiting the New York City Police Museum? There are plenty of exhibits which take in the history of the police force over several centuries. You may be familiar with recent years and the uniforms and cars, but it is fascinating to see how things used to be way back in the 1800s as well. Don’t miss the tribute to all the officers who have lost their lives doing the job they loved – it is well worth a visit. If the past fascinates you then you will definitely want to book yourself onto a tour of the tenement building in Orchard Street. Thousands of immigrants lived here nearly 150 years ago and their story is compellingly told via a fascinating guided tour. You will need to book your place on one of the five tours that are available, and then it’s simply a matter of enjoying the ride back into history. Of course as you are visiting New York you might want to find out more about the history of the city as a whole. If this is the case then you should head straight to the Museum of the City of New York. You can find out how the city has developed into the vibrant and lively place it is today. Delving back into its history is nothing short of fascinating though. Manhattan used to be covered in trees and streams! New York flights are only a part of the city's recent history but are one thing that would be hard to live without these days. JFK and Newark are the main airports for tourist and whichever one you land at you won’t be far from some of the best museums the city has to offer. One hour and thirty minutes from Florence towards the Mediterranean sea and we arrive at the parking. Instead of taking the public bus to the drop off I rang ahead and booked a little train which is a lot more fun even if it is only a 5 minutes ride. It doesn't matter how many photos of the leaning tower you might have seen, nothing can compare with seeing it first hand. It stands in the Square of Miracles beside the Duomo. Started in the 12th century it took many hundreds of years to build due to inexplicable pauses in construction. The original architect has the unforgettable name of Bannano Pisano. We caught the train back to meet the coach and started on our way around the Mediterranean coast. The famous marble quarry of Carrara are always mistaken by many for snow on top of the mountains as we near the end of the coastal plains north of Pisa. Still considered to be one of the most beautiful of the natural building materials it is shipped around the world. From here it is a spectacular drive through the Ligurian Alps as we make our way around the Gulf of Geneva on our way the city of the same name, one of Italy's largest ports. Lunch is taken on the Autostrada today. An hour after lunch and we reach the border and the end of tunnel counting. I could tell you the number but it would spoil it for people reading this who have not done a tour yet. Thirty minutes later and we are in the Principality of Monaco. Home and visiting place of the rich and famous, Monaco has been a favored destination for many years, it is spectacular in so many ways. The harbor with the mega yachts and driving on the circuit for the Monaco Grand Prix are the prelude to our visit. The walk through the gardens hightens peoples anticipation of our arrival to the casino built in the mid 1800's by Charles Garnier. Although famous for the casino it brings in only a small percentage of the principalities annual income, most of that comes from financial services. A visit to the old casino foyer is a must as it is breathtaking. In fact, you do not even have to be a visitor to take advantage of a New York limo as they are also ideal for residents. There are many benefits to being chauffeured around, and it is well worth the money.

The Benefits of a New York Limo

Author: Mark Vernon

New York limos are great for getting around the city anytime and anywhere. They are ideal for business people who are often flying in and out of JFK or LaGuardia airports as they allow you to conduct important business right up until the moment you are dropped off at the terminal or at the office. In today's hustle and bustle world, every moment is precious and you do not want to waste it driving to and from the airport during rush hour when you could be focusing on the job at hand. It also saves you the time and money of looking for a parking spot at the airport. However, you do not have to be a business person to enjoy all of the benefits that New York limos have to offer. They are also ideal for students who want to go out and celebrate a graduation, prom, or dance. This way there is no need to worry about having to find a designated driver as everybody can have a good time. Taking a limo to a sporting event is also a good idea as you can pile a few of your friends in and not have to worry about fighting the traffic after the game when leaving the stadium. The same goes for concerts, the theatre, and the opera. Hiring a New York limo is also a great idea for special occasions and once-in-a-lifetime events. They are perfect for traveling in style and luxury when it is your wedding, birthday, bachelor party, or anniversary. And while it may not be a nice occasion, they are also perfect for funerals. What better way to travel around town than having your own driver who picks you up at the door and drops you off exactly where you want to go. If your party or game goes a little longer than expected, that’s fine as the driver will be there waiting and ready to take you home. A New York limo taking you around the city to show you the sights is another fantastic way of saving yourself some time. You are able to sit back and relax while taking in everything the city has to offer such as Central Park, Times Square, the Statue of Liberty, and The Empire State Building, etc. It sure beats having to line up and take the crowded bus system and subway. Taking a limo is also a nice way to enjoy a dinner or date as it shows how much you care about your companion. There are many reasons to take a New York limo if you are planning a day or night out on the town. There are many styles and sizes of limos to choose from and hundreds of companies out there who would love to have your business. Beginners who haven't gone backpacking yet are missing out.

Backpacking for Beginners

Author: Amanda Kiefer

If this is your very first adventure into the unknown world of backpacking , get excited. You will shortly embark on one of the best experiences of your life. Great authors like Thoreau and Emerson advocated the simple an natural existence that backpacking provides, but why? What is it about this activity that influenced them so strongly? Let's explore a few of the reasons people love backpacking so much. It offers a unique view of nature. Ultimately when you are backpacking, it shows you see how indifferent nature is to your presence. Whatever you do, you cannot change the weather, or the sunset. You realize just how small you are compared to the world. This perspective helps you clear your mind and appreciate the value of life. You get to see something special. Backpacking permits you to go deeper into a park or recreation area, it frees you from the crowds and lets you go beyond the tourist level. You can see wilderness undisturbed and appreciate the beauty and value of nature in its undisturbed form. You can appreciate the quiet. In the wilderness you can get away from the relentless noise and bustle of city life. Away from the stresses and speed of motorized transport and technology, you can appreciate the real essence and nature of life. It offers a chance to realize that life isn't really about e-mails and twitter, but the serene and beautiful experiences of sight, smell, and sound. You can escape the stress. Getting away is one of the purposes of every vacation right? But how often do you go somewhere that you literally cannot check your e-mail. It might not seemlike it at first, but sometimes getting outside the 3G network is a wonderful idea. Feel accomplished. Remember when your mom told you that if it wasn't hard it wasn't worth doing? She was right. After living in the wilderness with next to nothing, you will feel accomplished and gain a sense of independence. Just yourself and a backpack in the great outdoors is an amazing experience.

Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/camping-articles/backpacking-for-beginners-1242651.html

About the Author:
Brian is a lover of the outdoors and has great experience hiking, camping and more. The Black Mountains, Peak District and the highlands of Scotland all spring to mind. But in cold, wet weather, these can all be fairly miserable places. For the guarantee of drier, warmer weather many walkers turn to other parts of Europe to spend their time.

Walking Holiday Destinations

Author: Mark Bartley

The well known mountain areas of the Alps, the Dolomites and the Sierra Nevada in Spain are all options for the experienced walker. For those seeking a less challenging option there are many alternatives, especially on some of the main holiday islands.
Walkers on the island of Menorca have always been able to enjoy the wonderful countryside for walking but now the completion of a new footpath that circumnavigates the whole island brings a wider choice of routes. For walkers, Menorca has of course some fantastic coastal scenery, with wonderful beaches dotted along its coastline, providing picturesque spots to rest and take a picnic. Menorca is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve area and some conservation is an important aspect. Preservation of flora and fauna as well as certain wildlife area is evident. The new coastal walkway around the island is called the Cam?e Cavalls and is a 180 kilometer long medieval route that was used for communication when the island had to be defended from invaders. The path has now been completely signposted and new fences erected to make it safer and easier to navigate for walkers.
The new pathway initiative follows an eight year process to make the land public property and a two million euro investment to prepare it. As well as walkers, cyclists and horse riders can also share and enjoy the route. Summer temperatures on Menorca can be very high so the best time to undertake a walk on the pathway is probably springtime or late Autumn. There are several companies that offer guided walks on the island and some will also arrange accommodation so that walkers can tackle the route in stages without having to worry about carrying their luggage.
The interesting aspect to walking on the island of Madeira is a unique network of water channels that were built by the Portuguese in the 16th Century to form an irrigation system channelling water to the agricultural parts of the island. These waterways also now provide a huge network of walking routes that bring large numbers of people to the island from all over the world. The waterways transport water from the wetter, higher regions in the north of the island through valleys, gorges and even tunnels to most of the rest of the island. Development of the system carried on for hundreds of years with additions being made as recently as the 1940's. In total, the levada network is made up of over 1300 miles of channels, including some 25 miles of tunnels. There are several levedas that are particularly favoured by walkers including the Levada do Caldeirao Verde. The terrain for walkers is a mix of unchallenging yet pleasant forest walks right through to a series of challenging routes that traverse steep hillsides and a few of the tunnels, for which local knowledge and assistance is recommended.
The island of Mallorca also has some wonderful walking terrain in the Tramuntana Mountains in the north west. The port of Soller is a perfect location for hikers to base themselves as it gives quick access to the higher peaks of Puig Major as well as the more gentle routes to the south of the town. The area around Lake Cuber, one of two huge reservoirs in the peaks, is also a big favourite with walkers. Several tunnels make interesting options, as does a visit to the monastery at Lluc or a walk down the Torrent de Pareis to the beach at Sa Colobra.
Finally the Greek island of Crete provides another location for warm weather walking. Unlike many other Greek islands, Crete has many more green areas and a choice of inland and coastal areas to explore. Traversing the island is a large network of tracks and trails, used in the past by shepherds and farmers but now largely redundant due to an improved road network. This has left them free for walkers to enjoy and a myriad of documented routes use them for out and back, circular and place to place routes. Getting prepared and setting off wit ha guide book is easy or opt to go with an organised walking tour. There are a number of walking companies on the island including a few run by individuals from the UK. Many will know the Gorge of Samuria, which is a great route but can become busy due to its popularity. It is only open during certain parts of the year and is now patrolled by rangers who ensure everyone gets through safely. Walkers start inland at Omalos and walk the 13 kilometers downhill to the coast at Agia Roumeli.

Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/travel-tips-articles/walking-holiday-destinations-1238906.html

About the Author:
Mallorca is a great island for hikers who like to get out and about and explore the holiday areas they visit. Mark Bartley reports on the walking options on islands such as Madeira, Crete, Menorca and Mallorca. Walkers who are thinking of visiting these places and may also be looking for flights to Madeira or the other islands mentioned, can find out further details here and in his other reports about island walking holidays on Madeira, Mallorca and Crete.

Photojournalism

With all of its fascination, Borobudur Temple was witnessing a great celebration of a million of Buddhists’ prayers and lights, along with the other seven offerings placed around the temple – red cloth in the west, green in the north, white in the east and yellow in the south side of the temple.

Prayers Over Borobudur, Indonesia
Author: Daniel Kreimer

With all of its fascination, Borobudur Temple was witnessing a great celebration of a million of Buddhists’ prayers and lights, along with the other seven offerings placed around the temple – red cloth in the west, green in the north, white in the east and yellow in the south side of the temple.

At the time of living, Buddha Siddhartha Gautama – or named as the Great Holy Shakyamuni Buddha in Buddhism – dedicated an offering and a prayer of aspirations to gain enlightenment, through a bowl of soup. Though it was very simple and meaningless, but it was delivered virtuously and truthfully, at the end, a blessing was bestowed upon all beings.

Buddha Shakyamuni, in “Brahma Sutra Song” which talks about karma – teaches us ten benefits of lights offering: to illuminate the world, gain a perfect sight, own the eyes of god, be in a wisdom of differentiating good and bad, get rid of the inner darkness, understand things wisely, not remain in darkness, gain a great merit of virtue, be born in the universe of god and reach nirvana in no time.

At this biggest Buddhist temple located in Boro village, Mungkid subdistrict, Magelang city, Central Java, Indonesia, for three days from March 6 to 8, 2009, one million candles were lighted from morning to the end of days to accompany the puja prayers led by Y.M. Zurmang Drukpa Rinpoche, together with several lamas (according to wikipedia.org, lama is a title for a Tibetan Buddhism teacher of the Dharma, a main concept explaining the higher truth or ultimate reality of the universe), anis (ani is a nun in Tibetan Buddhism , akin to “sister” in Catholic), bhikus, bhikunis, also many people from eight countries (Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Nepal and Tibet).

Organized by Vajrayana Nusantara Foundation, this magnificent event entitled “Lights Offering and Marme Monlam Aspiration Puja” was established over the idea of Y.M. Zurmang Drukpa Rinpoche when he visited Borobudur. Being amazed by the fascination of Borobudur, he desirably gave out an idea to perform puja prayers there; alike Kagyu Monlam great prayers ceremony performed annually in Bodhgaya (India).

“Monlam” which means “aspiration” is the deepest wish to give away happiness along with the ability to enhance one’s virtue and blessings bestowal for the benefit of all beings. Thus, this onemillion prayers and lights offering was not only delivered to Buddhists, but also to all creatures and people on earth; to gain peace and free from misfortunes.

Covered by lights and prayers, this temple was in an absolute fascination, together with its glory and mystery. Hopefully, the prayers of tranquility will come true and is everlasting, like Borobudur, until the end of time.
About the Author:

Dan has been writing articles for nearly 4 years. The site is near to Bombay. We can reach at the caves from the city of Jalagoan, too. This city is just 25 miles away from the caves. Another city is Aurangabad. We can go to that city and reach Ajanta by traveling by road.

The caves of AJANTA are the world's greatest monument. This ancient place is recognized as historical monument by UNESCO, too. In Ajanta, there are several caves. But only 30 caves are in good condition. The caves No. 9, 10, 19, 26 and 29 are known as Chaitya-grihas. The rest are called monasteries.

Though built up during the period running from second century BC to second century AD, these caves were discovered in the year 1819. Apart from the beautiful carvings done on the walls of the caves, the paintings done here are the most attractive thing for the tourists. The travellers coming from all over the world love to see these ancient paintings done in Buddhist Style. I think it can be argued that it is Europe\'s most famous prehistoric monument.

You\'ve seen the pictures... of a "mysterious" circle of upright stones in Southern England on the Salisbury Plain... pictures of modern day Druids holding ceremonies as the sun come up during the Summer Solstice.

Maybe you\'ve read accounts of Merlin moving the stones by magic. Whether it\'s fact or fiction you\'ve been reading... doesn\'t it make you want to go?

Most authorities say that it was built in stages starting from about 3000 BC. Research into and about the monument and the surrounding area is ongoing. New discoveries, details, and theories are turning up all the time. Maybe it\'s because people think it is or was a place of religious or spiritual significance that draws so many of them as visitors.

I think the fact that we know so little about such a great site is part of its allure. Whatever draws you to this amazing stone circle, make the effort to see it.

You can make this a day trip out of London if your time is short. The best way to do this is probably to book a one day tour.

You can also take the train to Salisbury which is the closest town to the Monument. (It\'s about 80 minutes from London to Salisbury. Trains leave from London\'s Waterloo Station.) In Salisbury, catch the Stonehenge Tour Bus which goes about every 30 minutes from the Salisbury train station and bus station.

The bus will take you to the entrance of Stonehenge. It returns to the Train Station with a stop at Old Sarum which is an Iron Age Hill Fort... and was the site of Old Salisbury.

We\'ve always rented a car to get to there. It is about 90 miles (145 km) from London; 2 miles west of Amesbury on the junction of two highways, A303 and A344/A360. The circle stands on its own in the middle of open countryside.... you can\'t miss it.

Facilities are pretty basic. There are toilets and a small stand selling coffee, sodas, and snacks. Parking is usually free. (We\'ve heard that sometimes a refundable deposit is collected at the car park during peak travel times.)

There is an entrance fee. (Check into a British Heritage Pass for entrance to this and several other monuments. If you\'re planning to visit several of them, it could be worth it.) Audio tours in a choice of nine languages are included with your entrance fee.

Only a chain link fence separates the road from the standing stones. You can even stick your camera through the fence and take a picture and be done... but why would you want to do that? Go in and spend a little time with the stones.

You are not allowed within the circle unless you apply for a special access pass. Check with English Heritage for more details. Take something warm with you; the stones stand on an open plain, and it can get windy and cold.

Stonehenge is not an isolated piece of prehistory. There are many Neolithic burial mounds in the area, the most famous is the West Kennet Long Barrow. Avebury is a larger, some say older, stone circle about 20 miles (32 km) north of Stonehenge. Silbury Hill, another Neolithic site nearby, is the tallest prehistoric man-made mound in Europe. The ruins of Old Sarum are worth a visit and moving forward in history, so is the town of Salisbury.

See modern London, visit it\'s historic areas, then take at least a day to get further back in history with a visit to Stonehenge.About the Author:

Discover this Globe Travel Blog Full of Travel Discount Strategies and get your Globe Travel Tips

Article Source: ArticlesBase.com - Where Stonehenge Is Located And Who Built Stonehenge

Switzerland

Switzerland is a small country surrounded by Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, Italy, and France. However, like any country in the world, it is always advisable to pay special attention to a few points during your India Tours to ensure that you and your family have a comfortable, enjoyable and safe vacation in the country. Here are top ten tips that will help you to experience true India and be safe at the same time:

Always buy your travel tickets from authorized dealers or centers. Hire any transportation, including taxis and auto rickshaws, from pre-paid booths or designated centers only.

Double-check your travel documents and always keep supplementary copies of your passport details, insurance policy, visas, credit card numbers and traveler’s cheques with you.

India offers a large variety of holiday options. In fact, it offers you the luxury of choosing your holiday theme and experience first and then, decide on the itinerary with the help of Indian travel agents, who can plan a holiday package based on your specified guidelines. Ranging from romantic to adventure, wildlife to medical, and architectural heritage to pilgrimage tourism, India can cater to all tastes. From young Himalayas to seas and oceans, desert scenery to beautiful beaches, splendid forts and palaces to secluded islands, you can come up with a most delightful traveling experience for yourself in India by making the right choices.

Indian traditional cuisine and dishes are often too spicy for western palates. Despite the delicious aroma wafting from the roadside stalls, they may not be suitable for your digestive system. Hence, eat only at the best restaurants in a city and sample a dish before ordering it.

Keep mineral water handy. Clean drinking water is not easily available everywhere and tropical Indian climate may leave you parched and thirsty.

Keep some ready cash in your purse, including foreign currency and Indian rupees. It is not easy to find credit or debit card machines in smaller towns. But you must be careful not to keep a large amount with you, as this will only attract attention of unwanted elements.

Keep your embassy informed about the route you are going to take and note down local emergency numbers such as those of police and ambulance. Also, keep your companions and travel agent informed about where you are at all times.

Toiletries such as hand sanitizers, water purification tablets, bath salts, mosquito repellants, and sunscreens are a must during India tour. Though your hotel rooms and bathrooms will most probably be very well furnished, you won’t easily find public restrooms in Indian villages or even smaller cities. Even if you do find an occasional clean one you permit yourself to use, forget about toilet rolls.

We strictly advice you not to loiter around on your own if you don’t know the local language. Foreigners are often perceived by small-time Indian crooks as ideal targets for mugging. Hence, learning a few words such as ‘Help’ and ‘Water’ in the native language might come in handy too.

While you can find English-speaking people at most of the tourist destinations, you can request for arrangement of language interpreters and travel guides who can speak in your language to your tour operator. This will only add to your travel experience and you will be able to enjoy the history and legend associated with a particular tourist attraction in real sense.
About the Author:

Jenny is a writer in Travel & Tourism related topics. What's the food going to be like, the people, the culture, the temperature and most important of all what the heck will you do there? Well, these instincts are standard, but not true. You see, I've always just heard about HK and its progress in their infrastructure and design, but never had I imagined it to be my favourite city in the world. I'm not Chinese, neither did I have any Chinese buddies convincing me to go. I always knew that I needed to go to China to experience their culture, food and to particularly find out what makes them so unique and different in the world. So, I scheduled a flight to HK and next the thing I knew, I was in HK in the scorching hot summer with 32 degree and 95% humidity. My experience in hong kong was impressive. Words unfortunately have limits ; pictures can only give you a sense of how a town is, but when you actually live in town of hong kong the experience is bind blowing.

Now before I left to hong kong, just like any travel, some research and planning should be done about the city. I searched google endlessly, but failed to find a site with great pro photographs that described the life-style of hong kong and some of the things I should and shouldn't do in HK. After endless looking, I finally found a perfect website by a student who went to university of Hong Kong to study for one month from university of Toronto. I must say, the way I saw HK was precisely like it was displayed in his footage. Folk just relaxing on the side of the roads, loads of construction employees just working round the clock and variety of food offered by different street vendors. If your interested in visiting HK, then visiting his site is an absolute must and even if your not especially interested in hong kong, then just checking out the city is still a thrill!

Hong Kong Photos:
http://viewhongkong.com.
About the Author:

I've been working at PwC for almost all my life. The warmth of Peru's people, the stunning scenery and diversity of landscape make any journey to Peru unforgettable.

Here are some of the most common places visited on Peru tours.

Machu Picchu & the Inca Trail: The "Lost City of the Incas," amongst the towering peaks of the Andes, is Peru's most famous and dramatic archaeological attraction. You can take a day trip by train from Cuzco. The adventurous can book a 4 day hiking trip.

Cuzco: The ancient capital of the Inca Empire is the oldest continuously inhabited city on the continent. Stonewalled cobblestone alleys wind through a town filled with archaeological wonders and local culture. Make time to see the Tampumachay ritual bath, the Kenko which was the amphitheater of sacrifices, and the fortresses of Pucara. Surrounded by the majestic Andes, Cuzco is full of opportunities to go hiking, biking or rafting. Give yourself a few extra days when you arrive in Cuzco, as the high altitude takes some getting used to.

Nazca: Along the southern cost of Peru lays a stony desert in which an ancient mystery is set. The Nazca lines, a series of enormous geometric shapes and animal figures etched into the ground, are a compelling draw to many travellers. The origins of these mystical formations are still unknown.

The Amazon: Some of the best preserved and least expired parts of this massive rainforest lie in Peru. It contains the origins of the Amazon River and thousands of unique plants and rare animal species. The biodiversity is unmatched anywhere in the world. The most popular way to see the Amazon is by boat.

Lima: This is the highest capital in the world. There are more than twenty museums full of Incan artifacts. Visit the Cathedral on the Plaze de Armas and the Baroque Church of San Fransisco. Great examples of colonial architecture include Palacio Torre Table, Casa de Aliaga and Casa de Oquendo.

Peru tours are offered year round. If you want to avoid larger crows, consider traveling January through April. You can see many of the highlights above in ten to twelve days. If you want to try to see it all, then plan on spending around sixteen or seventeen days. If you have the time, you can add on a trip to the Galapagos in a twenty day trip. Price are not as expensive as one might think. You can travel with a reputable company that uses four star hotels for ten nights, starting at around $2,700 per person. Airfare to Peru is additional.
About the Author:

Sue Brages
www.escortedsouthamericatours.com

Article Source: ArticlesBase.com - Peru Tours

Chinese

Living as an American in China for the past 3 years and this is my findings of the Chinese people, habits, thinking.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_6TtjOArSKzw/SoksdfGlmnI/AAAAAAAAAyI/Q1Dd8D6to_A/s400/china.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5370872915692984946" />
China foto fotolia

THE DE-EVOLUTION OF CHINA
Author: Buck Chucko

THE DE-EVOLUTION OF CHINA

I have been living in China three years now. During this time I have had the opportunity to observe the Chinese people going about their daily lives. I am struggling with the fact that I don't yet speak Chinese. For some people, learning a language is like learning any subject. Unfortunately for me, learning Chinese is a frustrating procedure. But in my defense it is also a frustrating language to learn. When I go out and try some words, people don't understand me. While pronouncing words is difficult in itself, there is also the fact that the local dialog spoken in Kunming is different from Mandarin. I expect at some point I will reach a threshold where I can say enough words where they will be able to understand me. My American friends tell me patience is the key to grasping Chinese.

In any case I have been here long enough to see things I am trying to understand. From my observations, I came up with the theory that the Chinese in general are in a new era, what I call, “de-evolution”. Let me explain.

The Chinese gave the world the most amazing technologies history has ever seen. They invented the compass, gunpowder, kites, paper, printing press, seismograph, ink, chopsticks, umbrellas, astrology, the planetarium, fans, hot air balloon, animal harness, rockets, bombs, books, medicines, the abacus, the mechanical clock, the crossbow, playing cards, silk, Porcelain, wheelbarrow, ice cream, suspension bridge, pasta, paddlewheel boats, natural gas deep drilling, the blast furnace, toilet paper, the newspaper, parachutes, zoos, decimal system, binomial mathematics, and they even invented the “zero” for Christ’s sake!

These things have changed the entire course of history in the world. They are also one of the oldest civilizations in history. Going strong after 5000 years. One could say that the Chinese must be very smart people. With all the great things China has given the world, I can only ask, “What the hell is going on here now?” So herein lies the source of my confusion.

As I observe the Chinese going about their daily lives, logic and common sense are nowhere to be found. At first I just thought Chinese are just a vastly different culture than us Westerners. While this is true to some extent, there appears to be more to it. They do things that fly in the face of everyday common sense. There are some examples.

Crossing the street Most often they simply do not bother look for oncoming cars, or, they will only look right when they cross. They never look left which is the primary direction of oncoming traffic. The result being that they step right in front of a car! Instead of jumping out of the way, they just freeze and do not move. Same reaction as a deer caught in your headlights. This happens all the time. It is more the norm than the exception. I think that in their minds they believe that if they don’t see a car, it is not there. So, how could one see a car if he never looks in the first place? You see…..very different logic used here. Sidewalks are rarely used. They usually walk in the street, no matter how busy the traffic. Children, babies, old people all walking in the street. Most of the time they walk in the middle or in a car lane, not even to one side. Mind you, there is a sidewalk empty along the street. At night this is very dangerous. You never know when they will just decide to just cross the street without warning.

Driving There is a reason why countries of the free world do not recognize a Chinese driver’s license for car rentals or for any other function. It is very simple….they can’t drive. Oh, they sure try hard enough. So far in the first six months of 2008, they’ve managed to kill over 100,000 in traffic fatalities alone trying to drive. You can’t fault the Chinese for not trying. So what is the deal anyway? I’ve realized it is two basic genetic things going on that will naturally put the Chinese behind the eight ball with driving. First is the inability for them to process incoming data fast enough to react to it. Really, as smart as the Chinese are, their brain waves just simply run at 50% of normal speed. So fast moving objects, or situations, will have already happened before they realize a problem even exists. This makes crash avoidance impossible. The second missing piece of genetics is “depth perception”. I don’t think there is even a Chinese word in for it! In any case, they don’t have it. They do not have any idea about the space they occupy and how it relates to others. They will see a bicycle rider on the curb of the road. As they approach in their car , they will move all the way into the next lane, while braking, thinking they are about to hit it. They shouldn’t have a reverse gear on any car in China. I will give 1000 RMB to the first person who can back in a straight line for 30 meters! Hell, make that 15 meters. It will never happen. They can’t do it. Usually when a car must be backed up, a family member will exit the car, go stand in the street with the other traffic, and direct the driver as he backs up. Talk about the blind leading the blind! Besides the genetic flaws of Chinese drivers, there is the complete and utter disregard for traffic lights, signs, laws, right of ways, people, whatever. They really believe that the entire road system was built solely for their own private use. There is never a fleeting thought to using indicators to change lanes or make a turn. No, the only time you see an indicator light is when they are passing another car on the highway. NOT changing lanes, just passing a car. Then they turn on the left indicator as they approach to make a pass. Doesn’t matter that he is going to change into the right lane after passing, he still uses the left turn indicator. They are taught to always turn on the signal while passing a car. It has nothing to do about lane change. Ah yes, and how about those horns. Noise is in their blood. I think they buy a car just because it has a horn. No need to light firecrackers when you got an electronic horn! I don’t even pay attention to horns anymore. It is no different to engine and road noise. Horns never stop. Every car is honking, moving or not. It doesn’t matter what the reason. They got one and by damn they will use it! I actually read that there is a traffic law that states, if you honk your horn before an accident, then it is not your fault. So they drive down the street always honking at nothing. Kind of scary huh?

Drinking Westerners go out to the a bar with friends to enjoy a few drinks. During the course of the evening, maybe they drink too much. It happens all the time. However, the Chinese have a different approach to it. To the Chinese, drinking is not a social function, it is a national competitive sport. It is a competition that is taken seriously. You buy beer by the bucket. When you order a beer, they bring 15 at once to the table. You have to make a special order if you only want one beer, and you pay a much bigger cost to do this. Before you take a drink, you must toast every time so everyone will drink at the same time. It is bad manners to take a drink by yourself. Then soon the table begins playing a vast selection of drinking games to speed up the drinking process. Conversations are basically about who will pass out first, or fall off the chair. If you prefer to drink liqueur, it is usually sold by the full bottle only. Then it is usually mixed at the table with 7-Up. The beer is also mixed and served in shot glasses so that during the drinking everyone can verify how much you are drinking. The whole process is designed to make sure everyone is consuming at the same volumes and rates. After a while, people begin to spew to the others delight and taunts. Later people simply pass out and are dragged away by their buddies, and this usually marks the end of the evening. By the way, there is no drinking age in China. You can be 8 ~ 80. Funny enough you rarely see very young people drinking. By nature people are 18 and up. I think this is more due to affordability than anything else. I think they tried to enter drinking as a competition in the Olympic games this year. China gold is a shoe-in.

Health and safety This one is a little complicated to put a finger on. Granted, China is an emerging 3rd world country with a boatload of people jammed into a little space. You really have to see it for yourself because reading numbers does not give you a picture of just how many people are here. The sheer density of urban populations is staggering. My city, Kunming, is smaller than Seattle. Seattle has 1.5 million people. Kunming has over 5.5 million. Imagine 4 times the people walking and driving around Seattle alone. Apparently human life holds little value here. If someone gets killed on the job, he is quickly replaced so work can continue without interruption. There is no such thing as company safety programs, OSHA, or safety equipment for use by the worker. Construction workers do not wear helmets, eye protection or safety shoes. They wouldn’t have a clue about such things. They grind away at steel and hammer rocks without a thought to eye protection. They work high up on bamboo scaffolds and iron beams wearing sandals. Forget about safety straps. Many fall and are killed. There is always someone else ready to take their place. Children run around and play alongside working large cranes and steam shovels. Construction sites are simply open for people to walk or drive through during construction.

As far as health goes, China seems to be stepping up with implementing some sort of national food safety programs. In light of the recent problems with tainted food exports, there is a direct economic benefit to inspecting food production in China. So the government has starting to implement inspections. But when only the general population was effected with tainted food, this was not a priority for the government. I read in local newspapers on several occasions where numerous schoolchildren were sent to hospitals because the school lunch food was contaminated. The open markets, where you buy all your food, have no sanitary standards. Meats are put on open tables in the sun until they are sold. Vegetables lay in the street or on small dirty tables in the open. Who knows how many chemicals or tainted water was used to grow them. One learns to spend a time carefully washing everything before using it. I average food poisoning about once a month, even being careful. Everything looks great and is fresh picked daily, but you must pay attention from where you buy it. Still, somehow it all seems to work out ok. However, I tend to believe the western approach leans too much in the other direction now. I have been eating this stuff for 3 years, and I’m not dead yet. Smoking is just short of being encouraged here. The billions the government takes in taxes from the factories cannot be overlooked. Cigarettes are very cheap and plentiful. Packs sell for less than one dollar. You can smoke almost everywhere. Many smoke and eat at the same time in restaurants. I have not seen anti smoking material anywhere. STD’s. This is alive and well in China. HIV is beyond epidemic levels in China. Condoms are just beginning to show up, but actually are always in your hotel room with the soap and towels. However if a woman is searched and found to be carrying condoms, she is automatically arrested for prostitution. This situation is improving, but too little, too late. There is virtually no sex education allowed in schools, and even adults are clueless to the dangers of many different STD’s or how to prevent them. Public toilets are nothing more than open sewers, only the brave can muster a trip inside. Most children simply stand on the public sidewalk and do their business like a dog would do. You can see this everyday. I don’t care about the openness of public bathroom activities as much as I don’t wish to see it done a few feet from me where I am sitting eating a bowl of noodles.

China is a remains beautiful country despite the fact that people throw trash everywhere. It is thrown from the cars and dropped to the street. Nobody gives it a second thought. Finish a can of soda and simply drop it or throw it out of the window. There are armies of people wearing orange vests that are stationed every few blocks. Their function is to sweep the street clean and monitor their assigned block to keep it clear of debris. Maybe this is what you call job security. Still it is annoying to see people throwing rubbish everywhere.

I could go on, but I think I’ve made my point. Local and regional governments should step up and simply start enforcing the laws that are already in place. I am frustrated mostly by the apparent lack of citizens respecting their own country and city. Something needs to be done to instill pride in the population and start teaching their children the same. As I said, China is an amazing country filled with beauty and history. I don’t believe these habits were this way in the past. But as China opens it’s doors to the world, these problems seem to be getting worse. Maybe as more and more Chinese travel outside China, they will bring back better habits to show their communities.
  About the Author:

I am an American citizen who moved from Seattle to China in December 2005 to start my adventures. Before you travel with your pet, it is important to make sure you have implemented the following tips to ensure your pet's safety as well as its health and well-being.

Pet Risk Destination Assessment: Check health risks in the destination area such as Lyme disease, Rabies, Heartworm, and other parasites and viruses. Treat your pet to prevent affliction. As well, check for breed restrictions at the destination before traveling. Some types of breeds and animal species are banned.

Assess Your Pet's Health: Travel can be a stressful time for any pet. Make sure that your pet is healthy. Sick, injured, too young or too old, and pregnant pets should not fly. Make sure all of the vaccinations are up-to-date. Vaccinations must be administered at least 30 days before departure. Rabies certificates should be obtained and signed no more than 10 days before departure. Make sure that your pet's nails have been clipped to protect against them hooking on the carrier's door, holes, and other small spaces. Do not feed your pet for four to six hours prior to air travel. Vomiting in the carrier is messy.

Pet Identification: Provide your pet with two identification tags. Make sure the tag contains your name, all of your contact numbers, home address, and phone number and address of your destination location. A microchip is a permanent way to identify your pet. Another option is to acquire a pet passport. A pet passport can be purchased at most local pet stores or on the internet. The passport will keep all of your pet's health information and emergency contacts readily available. Attach a photograph of your pet to the top of the carrier. This will help with identification if it gets out of the carrier. You should keep a picture in your purse or wallet. You should also place the words, "Live Animal" on the top and the sides of the carrier.

Appropriate Pet Carrier: Make sure you have a durable carrier with handles and proper locking. It should also have good ventilation and the pet should be able stand up, turn around and lie down. Write your home and destination contact information on the carrier. On the inside, lay comfortable bedding such as linen. As well, place ice cubes in the pet's dish in the carrier. It will melt during the trip and provide the pet with water without making a mess.

Know Your Airline's Pet Policies: Pet policies differ among the various airlines. Some airlines have such restrictions as cabin weight limitations, a certain breed prohibited, no pets when there is bad weather, and certain pet carrier guidelines. Make sure you call ahead of time to obtain the essential information for flying with your pet.

Traveling with a pet requires much planning and preparation. When you pack for your pet, make sure to include leashes, collar, food, medication and its favorite toy. Following the above tips will help ensure a safe and less stressful trip on the airplane making your trip much more relaxing and enjoyable.

Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/travel-articles/travel-tips-for-pet-travel-1128117.html

About the Author:
Need information about flying, flights and airports? Spain is a huge country, with many beautiful cities. This article will share a couple of great cities to visit in Spain - Majorca and Murcia. You shall see for yourself why it's a great idea to consider hiring a car.
Majorca.

Majorca offers a fun and relaxing environment that is very different from the busy city life that most tourists are used to. For starters, Majorca has sandy and beautiful beaches with good weather all year round. This means that those who want to escape the cold winter weather could consider making a trip to Majorca. Of course, with sandy beaches, you can also expect to find water sports such as snorkeling, skiing, boating, and more.

There is no lack of accommodation options in the city as well. You can choose from holiday resorts, luxury hotels, or budget inns. Luxury hotels offer the best services and facilities. But if budget is a concern, an affordable stay in one of the inns will be good enough. Although not as luxurious, these inns provide clean beds and basic facilities such as wireless Internet.

Perhaps the most attractive characteristic about Majorca is that there are abundant natural destinations in the city. Besides beaches, you can also visit caves, play golf, or talk a walk in a fruit tree plantation. For sure, such activities will help relieve a lot of stress and tension that most city dwellers face in their day to day lives.

Murcia.

Murcia is another great place to visit. It is one of the least know regions in Spain. Even locals find the region remote. However, Murcia is quickly opening up for tourists. Being relatively unknown, it has rich heritage that is largely undisturbed by the outside world. You can expect to find ancient but magnificent looking cathedrals, churches and convents. You can also visit various museums such as the Cathedral museum, the City museum, the Science museum, and others.

If you get hungry from all that visiting, you can always find fresh seafood available in the city. The most popular food available in the region is meat pies. Rumor has it that their deer pies taste best. To buy some beer to go with the meat pies, you can always visit a bar or a tavern. Bars and taverns are sprinkled in various streets and corners. So they are not difficult to locate.

Similar to Majorca, there are also no lack of accommodation facilities.

In both cities, transport can be a problem. If you want to see more and learn more about these cities, perhaps the best option is to hire a car. A car allows you to travel deep into various parts of the cities for exploration purposes. It is the most convenient form of transport, and you can travel in the day or at night.

by Gen Wright
