Poland is acountry in Europe, worthy of visiting by any serious traveller.
Poland - a place to visit
Author: Martin
Poland Poland is a country in Eastern and Central Europe with about 40 million people. I would describe it's people as a hard-working nation, being well on the way to future success. It has also a good position geographically - the middle of Europe is a good place to be located, right. I think it will regain it's past fame and glory, it just needs some reinforcements from outside, as well. Some good things you will observe when you go there: 1. Historical places, such as old cities, towns and arhitecture. 2. Religous people, so if you go for easy girls, that may not work out always. At least not with the good looking ones. 3. Old time traditions. Polish people will stick to their old ways, while also learning about new things constantly. 4. People like certain interesting foods. Check out their national cuisine! 5. People have large families and close bonds. They are really social as well. 6. They have interesting names for themselves. The young people take care to educate themselves well and go abroad for work, then earn money and come back and invest to develop their home-country. This is all good, because it keeps the trends upwards. I think Poland is on it's way to future well-ness and prosperity. Poland has many attractions, as well. It's not just a boring European country to visit. It has many advantages going for it. Like the ones I mentioned already and some others as well. Consider this: - how you would like to be surrounded by 1000 year old arhitecture - how would you like to be among some of the hardest working people - how you would like to visit some of the greatest churches and cathedrals in existance? - etc. There are numerous bonuses visiting Poland, so why not go there on your next [European] trip?

Ibiza, the tiny island in the Balearic islands remains one of the most popular and well established holiday destinations in Europe. Find out some of its highlights and reasons people travel to Ibiza for their summer getaways.
A summer in Ibiza, Spain will be nothing less than memorable. Eivissa or Ibiza, Spain is a Balearic Islands located in the Mediterranean Sea. Major cities in Ibiza include Ibiza Town, Santa Eularia del Riu and Sant Antoni de Portmany.
Ibiza is known for its vibrant nightlife. It is after all the party capital of Europe. There is more to this great city than its night clubs. Beautiful beaches and panoramic scenery await and will not disappoint. If you love the country, you should check out the olive groves in the northern countryside.
The weather will thrill all year around. If you are looking to return home with a tan, then you're in luck. The beaches on Ibiza can reach 30 degrees Celcius. Even in winter, the temperature stays mild.
Whatever your interests are, Ibiza will thrill. There is something in Ibiza for everyone. If you enjoy tennis or horse riding, then check out Talamanca. A golfer or into mountain biking, Cala Llonga is for you. If clear blue waters is what you seek, then the beaches of Ibiza can accommodate your needs. Pick from watersports such as skiing, snorkeling and diving.
If sports are of no interest, Ibiza offers lots of sightseeing. The caves of C'an Marca offer a spectacular view of eons old stalactites and stalagmites, and are home to the original Smuggler's Route. Visit the 2000 year-old salt flats at Las Salinas, or take a tour through one of the island's historical churches. Visitors may enjoy visiting the many villages, country houses and villas.
You will be more than satisfied with the Ibiza restaurant scene. You will find many choices, styles and flavors. You'll find traditional Ibicencan fayre with age old recipes for rabbit, lamb, fish and chicken, or the more modern delights of Basque, Provencale or Catalan cuisine. Sample Spain's traditional dishes such as paella or fideuea cooked over a wood fire.
Almost all the restaurants in Ibiza town have a sidewalk table area, a terrace or garden with swift and professional service, as almost nobody wants to eat indoors on those sultry warm summer nights. In Ibiza, you can sample the true taste of Spain. Spanish cuisine will delight all tastes.

If you are an art lover, Ibiza has a fabulous collection. Exhibitions in Ibiza museums range from large to small, local to international and many are located in beautiful buildings, right in the heart of the island of Ibiza.
If you're looking for a cheap Ibiza holiday you might want to consider going all-inclusive. All inclusive holidays to Ibiza usually include your flights, transfers, hotel accommodation as well as all meals and drinks in the hotel for the duration of your stay. Expect to pay from £300 off season to up to £700 in season and at a decent hotel for a 7 night stay.
Even in the height of season you should be able to pick up an all inclusive Ibiza holiday for about £400 if you book early or late, last minute you might be able to snap something up for even less.

Where can you find the best airfare deals? Maybe you dream of a holiday vacation on sunny beaches or snowy slopes but think you can’t afford the airfare. Not all of us can afford luxury holiday vacations. The expenses of airfare alone would empty our wallets. If you need to go on a much needed holiday vacation, there are ways to find the best airfare deals. Before starting to look for the best airfare deals, plan in advance. It is crucial to come up with an initial budget. Setting a budget helps to keep you from over spending. You don’t have to empty your pockets to enjoy another city or country. The world's oldest civilization was flourishing in Thailand at least 5,600 years ago.
Recent archaeological discoveries in the tiny, plateau hamlet of Ban Chieng, 500 kilometres northeast of Bangkok, provide compelling evidence of a civilization 600 years older than the ancient Tigris-Euphates valley settlements, hitherto regarded as mankind's first "Cradle of Culture".
Systematic excavation of burial mounds in Ban Chieng and surrounding areas has unearthed an 18-ton treasure of artifacts including an impressively wide range of bronze and iron tools and jewellery. Incised black pottery; handsome, hand-painted red-on-cream pots adomed with intricate fingerprint whorl pattems; ceramic figurines, and stone and glass beads abounded.
From archaeological evidence, it has been surmised that Ban Chieng hosted an agrarian society whose knowledge of metallurgy was so advanced it produced bronze artifacts six centuries befor anyone else-and married bronze and iron to fashion bi-metallic tools and utensils hundreds of years before the Chinese.
Ban Chieng artists and potters were equally accomplished. People dressed well and printed their own silk textiles using intricately-pattemed clay rollers. They lived in sturdy houses and used domesticated cattle to cultivate their rice paddies.
Easily accessible only from the southem Gulf-of-Thailand coast and the southeast (present-day Cambodia), the Menam Chao Phya basin was well protected from excessive outside influence and sudden, massive incursions of new settlers.
The widespread variety of pots and scarcity of offensive weapons strongly indicate a stable, peaceful society whose sophistication in metal technology, pottery crafting and plant and animal husbandry would have required at least 2,000 years of prior development.
The origins of the Ban Chieng people remain a mystery and have engendered a great deal of leamed speculation. Some scholars believe they may have come from present-day northem Vietnam, and discovered the bronze-making process after they arrived. Others contend that they were indigenous to the area.
What is certain is that they flourished in the Ban Chieng region because of its fertile soil and gigantic forests that contained abundant fuel and wildlife. Another factor was its gentle weather that both eliminated the need for elaborate housing and permitted year-round farming.
Unhappily, the Ban Chieng people's farming methods were considerably less sophisticated than their metallurgy. Using the primitive and ecologically rapacious method of slash-and-bum, eventual deforestation and resultant soil exhaustion forced them off the northeast plateau - which remains arid and relatively infertile to the present day - and down into the rich Menam Chao Phya Valley to the west.
There they encountered a Neolithic people who first produced bronze around 2,000 B.C. These valley people were most probably an indigenous proto-Malay tribe that later moved southward under pressure from the Ban Chieng people and sub-sequent southward migrations from China.
Verdant and abundantly stocked with fish and birds, the incredibly fertile Chao Phya river basin attracted several successive waves of immigrants.
The Menam ('Mother of Water' or 'River') Chao Phya basin covers most of modern central and northern Thailand and is bordered to the west by rugged Burmese mountains, to the north by lofty mountains separating southern China from the Southeast Asian mainland, and to the east by the high, sprawling plateau settled by the Ban Chieng people.

Bangkok Escorts - Are They Worth Your Money?
Author: Jim Hunt
After writing about the naughty nightlife of Bangkok for so long I often get asked the same questions over and over again. Questions such as "What are the best escorts in Bangkok?" and "How much do escorts in Bangkok charge?". Here's my short answer for both of those questions. There aren't any best escorts in Bangkok and they charge too much money. Way too much money. When you're traveling thousands of miles to get to Bangkok and order an escort you're missing on a whole lot of fun. Believe me. Bangkok's red light districts are easy to get to and you can meet so many like minded people from all over the world and make life long friends. So it really makes no sense to stay in a hotel room, waiting for an escort that is 99.9% not what you saw in the pictures of an escort service website. If you have two working legs and a reasonable level of English you should get out and hit the go go bars found in patpong, Nana Entertainment Plaza and Soi Cowboy. In there you can visually inspect the bar girls wearing bikinis. It's a whole lot different then looking at photographs on a website. You can even talk to the bar girl and in some cases she'll even let you examine the goods. Another reason why you shouldn't choose an escort service is because they charge a ridiculous amount of money. In go go bars you can negotiate rates and still end up paying a fraction of what an escort would've charged you for showing up at your front door. You should also take a look at Bangkok's freelance scene. There are many hot spot locations where Thai freelancers hang out like the parking lot of the Nana Hotel and Thermae Coffee Shop. You can talk to these girls and again visually look at them to see if they're what you 're interested in. And you can change your mind easily if the both of you don't click. Escorts on the other hand are a whole different story. When an escort arrives at your front door and she's not the one in the pictures you can send her back, but you have to give her taxi money, which is about several hundred Baht. Again there's a 99.9% chance you're not getting what you see in an escort service website. When you've found a go go bar girl or freelancer make sure you stay at a hotel that is bar girl friendly. This means that the hotel doesn't have a policy of charge their guest an extra fee for taking a companion back to their rooms. Bar girl friendly hotels are found in all of Bangkok's red light districts and are some of the best hotels in Thailand. But here's the real kicker. Guess where escort agencies find most of their girls? That's right, at a go go bar or freelance girls. They'll keep a list of girl's numbers and keep calling one until they find one with free time. Then they'll charge you several thousand Baht for it. So get yourself out of your hotel room if you can. Bangkok's red light districts are relatively safe as long as you keep your wits with you. You'll save yourself some money as well as time in the Land of Smiles.

Universal Studios Tours - Behind The Scenes
Author: charlesberger
If you will be near Universal Studios on your next business trip or vacation, you should definitely make time for a Universal Studios Tour. This will not only provide you with a day filled with fun and excitement but you will also get a behind the scenes look at what it really takes to produce the Movies that we all wait anxiously to see. If you are really interested in the world of movie making, don’t miss the Universal Studios Tour. The tour takes about one hour, and you will visit the sets of many famous movies and television shows. You will see the stars dressing rooms, and you may even run into a star or two along the way, or get to see an outdoors filming session in progress. The Special Effects Stage, located inside the park, is another attraction you won’t want to miss. Here, you will learn how Hollywood creatures are made, how sound effects are produced, and how visual affects are designed and implemented. This is an interactive attraction, and it only takes about thirty minutes to go all the way through it. Even though it doesn’t last long, there is a lot of information to be learned here – quickly! The interaction with the visitors makes this one of the most popular attractions at the park. For the most exclusive and personalized look behind the scenes, you should definitely consider purchasing a VIP Studios Pass. This pass costs under $150 for one person, and it is worth every penny! This will entitle you to a private tour of Universal Studios, and you will be allowed in areas that standard tour visitors won’t see. You will also have the right to move right to the front of the line for all rides and attractions with the VIP pass. VIP passes can be purchased online, by telephone, or at the park – but they are limited to a certain number of VIP passes that are issued per day, so get yours as soon as possible. Universal Studios is more than an amusement park, it is an interesting and amazing learning experience that you will never forget – no matter what age you are. The next time you watch an action movie, you won’t think ‘how did they do that?’ You will already have some idea as to how those special effects were created! You may even get so much out of your Universal Studios Tour experience that you think of ways that you could have done it better!

Driving in Canada can be without incident if one meets the required standards on the border. For starters, an international traveler should have a passport or a document that is equivalent to the same. The passport is passed to the border officers who staff the border between the United States and Canada. In addition, the driver should have documents to prove car ownership or if the car is on hire, they should have a lease certificate to prove the same. The international traveler should also be prepared to answer questions from the border patrol officials. The patrol officials question an international visitor concerning his/her reasons for travel, accommodation when in Canada and the length of his or her travel. As such, it is important that an international traveler establish where he/she will be staying while in Canada, the length of his stay and most importantly, he should have a clear reason for travel to Canada. If accompanied by children during the travel, you should have identity documents for the children too. In the absence of the parents, the adult traveler(s) should have written consent from the parents. Children who are less than 40 pounds must use car seats. The consent document should include the parents address, phone numbers and contact address. One should also find out beforehand the things allowed entry into Canada. This is especially so because Canada has restrictions to the entry of motor boats and hunting rifles into the country. You may be allowed to bring a pet if a veterinary certificate indicates that they have been vaccinated against rabies. Beyond the border, the international traveler should know that wearing seat belts in Canada is the mandatory. Unlike other countries however, you need to buy local insurance since United State’s insurance is accepted in Canada. However, one should obtain an insurance card for use in Canada from their insurance before travel. In addition, the US driving licenses are accepted in Canada. The speeding limits differ in different places. In rural highways for example, one can drive at 100 kilometers per hour, while the speed limits on highways and cities roads are 80 km/hr and 50 km/hr respectively. Americans should be aware that the driving rules and road conditions in Canada are slightly different from what they are used to at home. For example, most highways lack merging lanes for incoming traffic. In addition, rapid changing of lanes and tailgating are common among the Canadian drivers. Before proceeding on lights turning green, one should be careful since Canadians are notorious for running red lights. From Monday to Thursday, travelers should expect at least 10 minutes delay at the border crossings. The Cornwall border point is especially notorious for such delays due to the high number of people crossing the border at this point. On Fridays to Sundays, travelers should expect 20 minutes delay at the borders, again because of the high traffic as people go and leave Canada. These wait times are applicable for both the commercial and social traffic flow.

The Louvre

There are literally thousands of art galleries all over the world. Almost every city has an art gallery but there are some art galleries that are known all around the world. People will travel across the world just to see some of these famous art galleries and the master pieces that they house inside.
Paris Art Galleries
Author: john
The Louvre in Paris, France is probably the most famous art gallery in the world. While it can also be considered a museum the art housed in the Louvre is truly stunning. The most famous piece of art in the Louvre is the Mona Lisa, by Da Vinci. This painting has been stolen and recovered, and is now kept under high security. The Louvre also houses many other famous paintings by Da Vinci and hundreds of other famous artists. In New York City, the Metropolitan Museum of Art is a premier location for beautiful art masterpieces. The art gallery has an amazing collection of American paintings that will stun and impress any visitor. There are also paintings and statues housed there from all over the world, including many famous artists such as Botticelli, Raphael, and El Greco. London has an amazing gallery known as The National Gallery. This gallery boasts of some of the finest examples of European art, including paintings by Raphael, Manet, Leonardo Da Vinci, Renoir, and Monet. This gallery has a very large number of paintings and some of the most famous ones are: Sunflowers, by Vincent van Gogh, The Virgin of the Rocks, by Leonardo Da Vinci, and Venus and Mars, by Sandro Botticelli. Other than the traditional art galleries found all over the world that house the old greats, there are many that focus on the contemporary arts of the twentieth century. The George Pompidou Center in Paris is one of the most famous contemporary art galleries and museums in the world. Even the building itself is totally contemporary, with all the ducts and piping on the outside. Contemporary art galleries and museums typically feature not only paintings, drawings, and prints, but exhibits of furniture, sound, light, and even music. Visiting these galleries can be a fascinating visit through the past few decades and shows how much style and taste has changed. Each major city in Europe typically has a traditional national art gallery, a contemporary gallery, and usually many more, including private art galleries. If you are visiting any major metropolitan center then a visit to the area's many art galleries is a must. Most national galleries feature art from the history of their country. You can learn a great deal about a country and its culture by viewing the way their art has changed over the years. For those that want to possess these works of art, the only place to visit is the private galleries. The exhibits in national galleries are not for sale. While private galleries offer some good works of art, they do not house the greats such as the Renoirs or Van Gogh's. Another option is to visit auction houses such as Christie's that often hold art auctions. These auctions feature some stunning pieces that you can bid on and possibly acquire if the pockets are deep. Art is an important part of any history. Paying a visit to a gallery can transport you back in time, where you can see works produced by some of the most creative minds to ever exist.

German and Italian Tourists Flock Mombassa Beach Hotels
Author: Edwin
The global economic downturn and last year’s Kenya post-election violence slowed the rapid growth in tourism in Kenya’, but it turns out the two misfortunes only slowed it, In fact, because of the pressure on cost-cutting Western holiday-makers to reduce stress that comes with financial depression and make up for the 2008 miss, Kenya tourism is beginning to boom again according to African Safaris and Adventures Director Bussiness Development Esther Muthoni And a mood that was deeply uncertain just a few months ago has turned much more optimistic than ever, Major hotel chains such as the African Safari Club and Serena Hotels and Lodges which was closed for the better part of 2008 due to the slump in the hotel industry, have reopened with a bang, registering more than 50 per cent accommodation occupancy as the high season sets in. A number of its hotels and game lodges in the Tsavo and Masai Mara National Park and Amboseli are already doing brisk business, according to their managers, following the resumption of major airlines from Europe to the Moi International Airport in Mombasa. “Since the beginning of this month,” said Mr. Musa, the general manager of Sarova Hotels and Lodges, “we have been receiving about 14 flights per week but the numbers should go up significantly to about 22 by October when the high tourist season picks up.” Air Italy, which is currently operating four flights per week is scheduled to increase to 13 while other airlines like the Blue Panorama, Livingstone and Euro fly, all from Italy, will be operating between three and seven flights per week, he said. Africa Safari Club is one of the biggest hotel chains in Kenya that also includes Shanzu Coral Beach and Palm Beach, which could be reopened if tourist numbers grow, Business at the Moi International Airport in Mombassa had grown 7 per cent by the beginning of July and is expected to go up by over 45 per cent this year following an increase in the number of flights. This, according to the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA), will see the number of passengers touch the 1.4 million this year following the return of various airlines that withdrew services in the heat of post-election violence precipitated by the disputed presidential election of December 27, 2007. The coast, Kenya’s key tourist attraction with its sunny beaches, was one of the hardest hit by sporadic violence and destruction of property, causing skittish tourists to cancel bookings and suspend planned visits, as tribal fighting claimed over 1,000 people and displaced nearly half a million others. Moi International Airport Mombassa manager Kangugo said there were strong indications that this year’s performance would level that of 2007 when the airport received an average of 27 charter flights per week.

The Best Museums in New York

Author: Adam Singleton

Every city is packed with delights, but New York has more than most. When it comes to museums, it can bring you even more enjoyment. The other big advantage is the amount of knowledge you can easily pick up as a result of visiting just some of the many museums dotted about the city’s streets. If a tour of New York’s museums appeals to you, try the Guggenheim Museum for starters. Located on the famous 5th Avenue, it not only looks stunning from the outside, it has plenty of modern art on display inside as well. The remarkable building celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2009, and there are countless exhibitions on display. You can enjoy seeing works from famous artists, as well as acquainting yourself with new ones. Part of the charm of New York is seeing the famous New York City police cars driving around the city. If the history of the city’s police force interests you, why not find out more about it by visiting the New York City Police Museum? There are plenty of exhibits which take in the history of the police force over several centuries. You may be familiar with recent years and the uniforms and cars, but it is fascinating to see how things used to be way back in the 1800s as well. Don’t miss the tribute to all the officers who have lost their lives doing the job they loved – it is well worth a visit. If the past fascinates you then you will definitely want to book yourself onto a tour of the tenement building in Orchard Street. Thousands of immigrants lived here nearly 150 years ago and their story is compellingly told via a fascinating guided tour. You will need to book your place on one of the five tours that are available, and then it’s simply a matter of enjoying the ride back into history. Of course as you are visiting New York you might want to find out more about the history of the city as a whole. If this is the case then you should head straight to the Museum of the City of New York. You can find out how the city has developed into the vibrant and lively place it is today. Delving back into its history is nothing short of fascinating though. Manhattan used to be covered in trees and streams! New York flights are only a part of the city's recent history but are one thing that would be hard to live without these days. JFK and Newark are the main airports for tourist and whichever one you land at you won’t be far from some of the best museums the city has to offer. It doesn't matter how many photos of the leaning tower you might have seen, nothing can compare with seeing it first hand. It stands in the Square of Miracles beside the Duomo.

Travel in Pisa
Author: Michael Drewell
Pisa with its leaning tower is our first port of call this morning. One hour and thirty minutes from Florence towards the Mediterranean sea and we arrive at the parking. Instead of taking the public bus to the drop off I rang ahead and booked a little train which is a lot more fun even if it is only a 5 minutes ride. It doesn't matter how many photos of the leaning tower you might have seen, nothing can compare with seeing it first hand. It stands in the Square of Miracles beside the Duomo. Started in the 12th century it took many hundreds of years to build due to inexplicable pauses in construction. The original architect has the unforgettable name of Bannano Pisano. We caught the train back to meet the coach and started on our way around the Mediterranean coast. The famous marble quarry of Carrara are always mistaken by many for snow on top of the mountains as we near the end of the coastal plains north of Pisa. Still considered to be one of the most beautiful of the natural building materials it is shipped around the world. From here it is a spectacular drive through the Ligurian Alps as we make our way around the Gulf of Geneva on our way the city of the same name, one of Italy's largest ports. Lunch is taken on the Autostrada today. An hour after lunch and we reach the border and the end of tunnel counting. I could tell you the number but it would spoil it for people reading this who have not done a tour yet. Thirty minutes later and we are in the Principality of Monaco. Home and visiting place of the rich and famous, Monaco has been a favored destination for many years, it is spectacular in so many ways. The harbor with the mega yachts and driving on the circuit for the Monaco Grand Prix are the prelude to our visit. The walk through the gardens hightens peoples anticipation of our arrival to the casino built in the mid 1800's by Charles Garnier. Although famous for the casino it brings in only a small percentage of the principalities annual income, most of that comes from financial services. A visit to the old casino foyer is a must as it is breathtaking. For more information about traveling; please have a look at http://www.affordable-cruises-tours.com .

Tuesday, September 22, 2009

When you are visiting the "City that Never Sleeps", the easiest and most relaxing way to get around town is in a New York limo. Why give yourself the headache of weaving in and out of the city's congested streets when you can let someone else worry about it. In fact, you do not even have to be a visitor to take advantage of a New York limo as they are also ideal for residents. There are many benefits to being chauffeured around, and it is well worth the money.

The Benefits of a New York Limo

Author: Mark Vernon

New York limos are great for getting around the city anytime and anywhere. They are ideal for business people who are often flying in and out of JFK or LaGuardia airports as they allow you to conduct important business right up until the moment you are dropped off at the terminal or at the office. In today's hustle and bustle world, every moment is precious and you do not want to waste it driving to and from the airport during rush hour when you could be focusing on the job at hand. It also saves you the time and money of looking for a parking spot at the airport. However, you do not have to be a business person to enjoy all of the benefits that New York limos have to offer. They are also ideal for students who want to go out and celebrate a graduation, prom, or dance. This way there is no need to worry about having to find a designated driver as everybody can have a good time. Taking a limo to a sporting event is also a good idea as you can pile a few of your friends in and not have to worry about fighting the traffic after the game when leaving the stadium. The same goes for concerts, the theatre, and the opera. Hiring a New York limo is also a great idea for special occasions and once-in-a-lifetime events. They are perfect for traveling in style and luxury when it is your wedding, birthday, bachelor party, or anniversary. And while it may not be a nice occasion, they are also perfect for funerals. What better way to travel around town than having your own driver who picks you up at the door and drops you off exactly where you want to go. If your party or game goes a little longer than expected, that’s fine as the driver will be there waiting and ready to take you home. A New York limo taking you around the city to show you the sights is another fantastic way of saving yourself some time. You are able to sit back and relax while taking in everything the city has to offer such as Central Park, Times Square, the Statue of Liberty, and The Empire State Building, etc. It sure beats having to line up and take the crowded bus system and subway. Taking a limo is also a nice way to enjoy a dinner or date as it shows how much you care about your companion. There are many reasons to take a New York limo if you are planning a day or night out on the town. There are many styles and sizes of limos to choose from and hundreds of companies out there who would love to have your business. Just relax in luxury and enjoy yourself while a professional driver takes care of your every need. Just remember it does not matter what the occasion or event is, there is no need to worry about getting there and back and the parking when you take a New York limo.

Read about how it feels to be backpacking in the middle of the wilderness with just yourself and your thoughts. Beginners who haven't gone backpacking yet are missing out.

Backpacking for Beginners

Author: Amanda Kiefer

If this is your very first adventure into the unknown world of backpacking , get excited. You will shortly embark on one of the best experiences of your life. Great authors like Thoreau and Emerson advocated the simple an natural existence that backpacking provides, but why? What is it about this activity that influenced them so strongly? Let's explore a few of the reasons people love backpacking so much. It offers a unique view of nature. Ultimately when you are backpacking, it shows you see how indifferent nature is to your presence. Whatever you do, you cannot change the weather, or the sunset. You realize just how small you are compared to the world. This perspective helps you clear your mind and appreciate the value of life. You get to see something special. Backpacking permits you to go deeper into a park or recreation area, it frees you from the crowds and lets you go beyond the tourist level. You can see wilderness undisturbed and appreciate the beauty and value of nature in its undisturbed form. You can appreciate the quiet. In the wilderness you can get away from the relentless noise and bustle of city life. Away from the stresses and speed of motorized transport and technology, you can appreciate the real essence and nature of life. It offers a chance to realize that life isn't really about e-mails and twitter, but the serene and beautiful experiences of sight, smell, and sound. You can escape the stress. Getting away is one of the purposes of every vacation right? But how often do you go somewhere that you literally cannot check your e-mail. It might not seemlike it at first, but sometimes getting outside the 3G network is a wonderful idea. Feel accomplished. Remember when your mom told you that if it wasn't hard it wasn't worth doing? She was right. After living in the wilderness with next to nothing, you will feel accomplished and gain a sense of independence. Just yourself and a backpack in the great outdoors is an amazing experience.

For tourists who enjoy the activity of walking there are plenty of favoured regions at home to explore. The Black Mountains, Peak District and the highlands of Scotland all spring to mind. But in cold, wet weather, these can all be fairly miserable places. For the guarantee of drier, warmer weather many walkers turn to other parts of Europe to spend their time.

Walking Holiday Destinations

Author: Mark Bartley

The well known mountain areas of the Alps, the Dolomites and the Sierra Nevada in Spain are all options for the experienced walker. For those seeking a less challenging option there are many alternatives, especially on some of the main holiday islands.
Walkers on the island of Menorca have always been able to enjoy the wonderful countryside for walking but now the completion of a new footpath that circumnavigates the whole island brings a wider choice of routes. For walkers, Menorca has of course some fantastic coastal scenery, with wonderful beaches dotted along its coastline, providing picturesque spots to rest and take a picnic. Menorca is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve area and some conservation is an important aspect. Preservation of flora and fauna as well as certain wildlife area is evident. The new coastal walkway around the island is called the Cam?e Cavalls and is a 180 kilometer long medieval route that was used for communication when the island had to be defended from invaders. The path has now been completely signposted and new fences erected to make it safer and easier to navigate for walkers.
The new pathway initiative follows an eight year process to make the land public property and a two million euro investment to prepare it. As well as walkers, cyclists and horse riders can also share and enjoy the route. Summer temperatures on Menorca can be very high so the best time to undertake a walk on the pathway is probably springtime or late Autumn. There are several companies that offer guided walks on the island and some will also arrange accommodation so that walkers can tackle the route in stages without having to worry about carrying their luggage.
The interesting aspect to walking on the island of Madeira is a unique network of water channels that were built by the Portuguese in the 16th Century to form an irrigation system channelling water to the agricultural parts of the island. These waterways also now provide a huge network of walking routes that bring large numbers of people to the island from all over the world. The waterways transport water from the wetter, higher regions in the north of the island through valleys, gorges and even tunnels to most of the rest of the island. Development of the system carried on for hundreds of years with additions being made as recently as the 1940's. In total, the levada network is made up of over 1300 miles of channels, including some 25 miles of tunnels. There are several levedas that are particularly favoured by walkers including the Levada do Caldeirao Verde. The terrain for walkers is a mix of unchallenging yet pleasant forest walks right through to a series of challenging routes that traverse steep hillsides and a few of the tunnels, for which local knowledge and assistance is recommended.
The island of Mallorca also has some wonderful walking terrain in the Tramuntana Mountains in the north west. The port of Soller is a perfect location for hikers to base themselves as it gives quick access to the higher peaks of Puig Major as well as the more gentle routes to the south of the town. The area around Lake Cuber, one of two huge reservoirs in the peaks, is also a big favourite with walkers. Several tunnels make interesting options, as does a visit to the monastery at Lluc or a walk down the Torrent de Pareis to the beach at Sa Colobra.
Finally the Greek island of Crete provides another location for warm weather walking. Unlike many other Greek islands, Crete has many more green areas and a choice of inland and coastal areas to explore. Traversing the island is a large network of tracks and trails, used in the past by shepherds and farmers but now largely redundant due to an improved road network. This has left them free for walkers to enjoy and a myriad of documented routes use them for out and back, circular and place to place routes. Getting prepared and setting off wit ha guide book is easy or opt to go with an organised walking tour. There are a number of walking companies on the island including a few run by individuals from the UK. Many will know the Gorge of Samuria, which is a great route but can become busy due to its popularity. It is only open during certain parts of the year and is now patrolled by rangers who ensure everyone gets through safely. Walkers start inland at Omalos and walk the 13 kilometers downhill to the coast at Agia Roumeli.

Prayers Over Borobudur, Indonesia

With all of its fascination, Borobudur Temple was witnessing a great celebration of a million of Buddhists’ prayers and lights, along with the other seven offerings placed around the temple – red cloth in the west, green in the north, white in the east and yellow in the south side of the temple.

At the time of living, Buddha Siddhartha Gautama – or named as the Great Holy Shakyamuni Buddha in Buddhism – dedicated an offering and a prayer of aspirations to gain enlightenment, through a bowl of soup. Though it was very simple and meaningless, but it was delivered virtuously and truthfully, at the end, a blessing was bestowed upon all beings.

Buddha Shakyamuni, in “Brahma Sutra Song” which talks about karma – teaches us ten benefits of lights offering: to illuminate the world, gain a perfect sight, own the eyes of god, be in a wisdom of differentiating good and bad, get rid of the inner darkness, understand things wisely, not remain in darkness, gain a great merit of virtue, be born in the universe of god and reach nirvana in no time.

At this biggest Buddhist temple located in Boro village, Mungkid subdistrict, Magelang city, Central Java, Indonesia, for three days from March 6 to 8, 2009, one million candles were lighted from morning to the end of days to accompany the puja prayers led by Y.M. Zurmang Drukpa Rinpoche, together with several lamas (according to wikipedia.org, lama is a title for a Tibetan Buddhism teacher of the Dharma, a main concept explaining the higher truth or ultimate reality of the universe), anis (ani is a nun in Tibetan Buddhism , akin to “sister” in Catholic), bhikus, bhikunis, also many people from eight countries (Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Nepal and Tibet).

Organized by Vajrayana Nusantara Foundation, this magnificent event entitled “Lights Offering and Marme Monlam Aspiration Puja” was established over the idea of Y.M. Zurmang Drukpa Rinpoche when he visited Borobudur. Being amazed by the fascination of Borobudur, he desirably gave out an idea to perform puja prayers there; alike Kagyu Monlam great prayers ceremony performed annually in Bodhgaya (India).

“Monlam” which means “aspiration” is the deepest wish to give away happiness along with the ability to enhance one’s virtue and blessings bestowal for the benefit of all beings. Thus, this onemillion prayers and lights offering was not only delivered to Buddhists, but also to all creatures and people on earth; to gain peace and free from misfortunes.

Covered by lights and prayers, this temple was in an absolute fascination, together with its glory and mystery. Hopefully, the prayers of tranquility will come true and is everlasting, like Borobudur, until the end of time.

The Ajanta Caves are situated in the state of Maharastra in India. The site is near to Bombay. We can reach at the caves from the city of Jalagoan, too. This city is just 25 miles away from the caves. Another city is Aurangabad. We can go to that city and reach Ajanta by traveling by road.

The caves of AJANTA are the world's greatest monument. This ancient place is recognized as historical monument by UNESCO, too. In Ajanta, there are several caves. But only 30 caves are in good condition. The caves No. 9, 10, 19, 26 and 29 are known as Chaitya-grihas. The rest are called monasteries.

Though built up during the period running from second century BC to second century AD, these caves were discovered in the year 1819. Apart from the beautiful carvings done on the walls of the caves, the paintings done here are the most attractive thing for the tourists. The travellers coming from all over the world love to see these ancient paintings done in Buddhist Style. Though most of the paintings here can be related to the period of 2nd century BC to 2nd century AD, some of them were done in about the fifth century AD.

It is believed that these cave paintings are done by the Buddhist monks and other artists. Most of the paintings show the influence of religion. The characters painted are mainly Buddha and Bodhisattvas, a Buddhist monk. The artworks depict stories known as Jatakas.

All the materials used in these paintings came from the local area. The artists have done their work on a ground of mud-plaster. The technique used seems to be tempera.

European holiday destinations have really suffered from the strong Euro; many of us are looking to cheaper locations outside of the Euro zone, Turkey is one of the more popular destinations.

Where to Holiday This Summer

Author: Kim Chambers

Forecasts are apparently telling us that this year Britain will be able to enjoy the sun however with the gloomy weather we have had over the last week or two, in Scotland it has pretty much rained non stop, many people aren’t waiting around to see if it will materialise.

Many people have decided that they want a summer holiday and have booked holidays where they definitely will get hot weather where they can pick up a nice tan. I read in the news travel agents have experienced a bit jump in bookings making up for the slump the recession has caused in the earnings.

If you are also thinking along the same lines there are many bargain holidays available and while I understand that budgets are tight you’d be surprise how much cheaper it is to take the family on holiday this year.

European holiday destinations have really suffered from the strong Euro; many of us are looking to cheaper locations outside of the Euro zone. However it is worth taking the time to look at destinations such as Spain. There have been many resorts and hotels discounting heavily so they can encourage people back in to the country. Make sure you consider the overall cost of the holiday as while you might save a lot of money on the hotel price, the costs of meals and other items you buy will be expensive when you are buying in Euros.

There are many other great locations that people are flocking to this year outside of the Euro zone. Turkey is one of the more popular destinations offering hot weather that you just can’t get in the good old UK.

To get the best deals you do have to be flexible and consider all your options such as booking flights separately or as a package. Arming yourself with the best deals also means that you can haggle with tour operators to try and negotiate them down.

Now is a great time to be able to fly to destinations that you may have not otherwise considered and have experience a different type of holiday. Even looking at long haul flights can bring up some great deals, with Florida another popular destination this year, great for taking the kids away to somewhere everyone will enjoy.

Where Stonehenge Is Located And Who Built Stonehenge

Author: Brad Alexander
If you want to dive into ancient history in England, Stonehenge is certainly a place to start. I think it can be argued that it is Europe\'s most famous prehistoric monument.

You\'ve seen the pictures... of a "mysterious" circle of upright stones in Southern England on the Salisbury Plain... pictures of modern day Druids holding ceremonies as the sun come up during the Summer Solstice.

Maybe you\'ve read accounts of Merlin moving the stones by magic. Whether it\'s fact or fiction you\'ve been reading... doesn\'t it make you want to go?

Most authorities say that it was built in stages starting from about 3000 BC. Research into and about the monument and the surrounding area is ongoing. New discoveries, details, and theories are turning up all the time. Maybe it\'s because people think it is or was a place of religious or spiritual significance that draws so many of them as visitors.

I think the fact that we know so little about such a great site is part of its allure. Whatever draws you to this amazing stone circle, make the effort to see it.

You can make this a day trip out of London if your time is short. The best way to do this is probably to book a one day tour.

You can also take the train to Salisbury which is the closest town to the Monument. (It\'s about 80 minutes from London to Salisbury. Trains leave from London\'s Waterloo Station.) In Salisbury, catch the Stonehenge Tour Bus which goes about every 30 minutes from the Salisbury train station and bus station.

The bus will take you to the entrance of Stonehenge. It returns to the Train Station with a stop at Old Sarum which is an Iron Age Hill Fort... and was the site of Old Salisbury.

We\'ve always rented a car to get to there. It is about 90 miles (145 km) from London; 2 miles west of Amesbury on the junction of two highways, A303 and A344/A360. The circle stands on its own in the middle of open countryside.... you can\'t miss it.

Facilities are pretty basic. There are toilets and a small stand selling coffee, sodas, and snacks. Parking is usually free. (We\'ve heard that sometimes a refundable deposit is collected at the car park during peak travel times.)

There is an entrance fee. (Check into a British Heritage Pass for entrance to this and several other monuments. If you\'re planning to visit several of them, it could be worth it.) Audio tours in a choice of nine languages are included with your entrance fee.

Only a chain link fence separates the road from the standing stones. You can even stick your camera through the fence and take a picture and be done... but why would you want to do that? Go in and spend a little time with the stones.

You are not allowed within the circle unless you apply for a special access pass. Check with English Heritage for more details. Take something warm with you; the stones stand on an open plain, and it can get windy and cold.

Stonehenge is not an isolated piece of prehistory. There are many Neolithic burial mounds in the area, the most famous is the West Kennet Long Barrow. Avebury is a larger, some say older, stone circle about 20 miles (32 km) north of Stonehenge. Silbury Hill, another Neolithic site nearby, is the tallest prehistoric man-made mound in Europe. The ruins of Old Sarum are worth a visit and moving forward in history, so is the town of Salisbury.

See modern London, visit it\'s historic areas, then take at least a day to get further back in history with a visit to Stonehenge.About the Author:
